A 1oz bar holds one troy ounce of fine silver, which is 31.10 grams. It's the size most people start with, so it's the bar we see most often. They come as flat minted bars, often sealed in a card or plastic assay, and as small poured or cast bars.

Some bars are worth more than their silver content, such as sealed bars from popular mints, older bars that are no longer made, and limited editions. Photos and the maker's name help us spot these.
