Silver plate (often marked EPNS or A1) has only a very thin coat of silver, so it has little value as metal. If you're not sure, send a photo of the marks and we'll tell you.

How selling silver online works

  1. Send us photos

Fill in the short form with a description and up to two photos of each item. Markings, weights and dates all help.

  2. Get your offer

We look at your items and reply with an offer. There's no fee to ask and no pressure to say yes.

  3. Post your items

If you accept, we explain exactly how to pack and post them. We recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, which is tracked, signed for and can be insured.

  4. Get paid

We check your items by hand when they arrive and pay you once they're confirmed.

Weighted silver

Candlesticks and some trophies are "weighted", which means they're filled with plaster or resin. Only the silver part counts, so it helps to tell us if an item is weighted.

Questions people ask

How do I know if my silver is real?

Look for a stamp such as 925, sterling, or a British hallmark with a lion. Silver isn't magnetic, so if a magnet sticks strongly, it's probably not silver.

Do you buy silver plate?

Usually not as metal, as there's very little silver in it. Some antique plated items have collector value, so it's still worth sending a photo.

Do you buy broken silver?

Yes. Broken chains, bent spoons and damaged pieces are all fine.

Can I sell silver by post?

Yes. You get an offer first, then post your silver to us with a tracked and insured service.
